James Hunt

James Hunt - Senior Pastor

James came to First Southern in February 2015.

He served on staff at Council Road Baptist Church, Bethany, OK, from October 2005 – January 2015. James’ first 13 years in ministry were in a bi-vocational role primarily as a student pastor and worship leader in South Florida. He holds a MTS from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Kansas City, MO., a BA in Bible from Clearwater Christian College in Clearwater, FL., and an advanced degree in the “School of Hard Knocks”.

He loves serving Jesus by serving people. He also enjoys spending time with his wife of over 20 years as well as his four children. You’ll find him just as comfortable in the office deep in thought as he is at a rodeo. He likes boots, jeans, and fun times with the family. He also love classic vehicles, especially old trucks. And he really likes motorcycles and horses. His ideal afternoon would be on the back of either.

He likes his music loud, preaching faithful to Scripture, and prayer to be genuine. If you’re ever driving next to him you may see his windows rolled down and hear music blaring – anything from classic rock, hymns of the faith, or contemporary worship music. Sometimes, however, you’ll see him daydreaming – lost in thought. He’s an absent-minded kind of guy sometimes.

The thing he’d like you most to know about him is that he’s a big sinner and God is an even greater Savior! He’d love to share with you about God’s grace in Jesus. Just ask him!

James is thankful for the privilege of serving Jesus by serving His church at First Southern, Guthrie!

Hayden Seifert

Hayden Seifert - Youth Pastor

Hayden grew up in Guthrie but it wasn’t till September 2016 that he became the full time youth minister of First Southern. He attended First Southern throughout his high school years with his family; God used this church to transform his life completely. Hayden loves to impact students with the love of Jesus.

Hayden will readily admit that he does not have everything figured out. But one thing God has taught him is that he is nothing without Christ. It wasn’t too many years ago that he was a rebellious teen that did not think he needed God. He is so thankful that God’s grace through Jesus has completely transformed his life and character from the inside out. Hayden wants that same change for each person he encounters.

He is currently enrolled at The College at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Kansas City, MO, pursuing a degree in Divinity. He started his college career at Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee playing baseball and pursuing a degree in Sports Ministry. Currently, Hayden also serves as a Junior High coach for Guthrie Bluejays football and baseball.

He love sports! Most of his life was spent on a diamond or a field of some kind somewhere. Hayden played football and baseball for the Guthrie Bluejays winning a state title in 2011. He enjoys playing or watching sports for hours on end. He also loves to have fun with people. It doesn’t matter if others are laughing at him or with him – Hayden enjoys making people smile.

Diann Owen

Diann Owen - Church Ministry Coordinator

Diann, along with her husband Gene,  have lived in the Guthrie area since 1977. They’ve been married over 40 years! During that time God has blessed them with two wonderful children and their spouses.  Additionally, they have eight grandchildren that they adore.  In their spare time they enjoy watching their grandchildren in the many different activities that they are involved in.

Jordan Tooley - Nursery Coordinator

Jordan was born in Michigan but moved to Oklahoma in 1995 where she decided to call Guthrie her home. Jordan has been serving at First Southern since 2017, where she felt the need and love to serve the lord. She loves seeing children grow, flourish, and develop a heart for the Lord. Jordan is dedicated to providing a safe, loving environment in which children can learn and grow in God’s love. She believes First Southern nursery is a great place to prepare little ones to know Christ.

Jordan and her husband Drew were married at First Southern church in 2015, between them both they have 6 wonderful boys.

Jordan enjoys relaxing, shopping, traveling and (most of all) spending time with family and friends.

Taylor Bauer - Worship Minister

Taylor has served at First Southern since October 2016. As a High School student Taylor developed a love for leading people in worship. He led music for his youth group at his hometown church in Guymon, Oklahoma. While attending university in Edmond he served three years as the Student Ministry Worship Assistant at Henderson Hills Baptist Church.

Taylor enjoys spending time with his wife and cat, reading, drinking coffee, listening to classical piano music, keeping up with numerous sports teams, and laughing at his own jokes, even before he actually makes them.

Taylor is passionate about how worship shapes God’s people – both in corporate and daily worship – and he desires that all people experience life with God through Jesus as the pathway to true satisfaction.
